Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Quill ("we", "us", "our"), a product of Press Analytica, collects, uses, and shares information when you install and use the Quill app (the "Service") on your Shopify store.

1. Information we collect

When you install Quill on your Shopify store, we collect the following information through the Shopify Admin API:

Shop details: shop name, primary domain, email, currency, and timezone.
Product catalog: product titles, descriptions, handles, types, tags, and featured images. Used to determine which products Quill can write articles about and link to.
Blog content: articles published through Quill (titles, body HTML, tags, scheduled times). Stored so the dashboard can display them and track performance.
Order data: order totals and timestamps for orders that came from blog readers. Used to calculate revenue attributed to specific articles. We do not collect customer names, addresses, or payment details.

2. Storefront analytics (web pixel)

When merchants enable Quill, our web pixel runs on their public storefront. It records:

Anonymous article page views (which article was viewed, when)
Anonymous product clicks attributed to the article a visitor read beforehand (within a 7-day window)
Anonymous purchases attributed to those clicks (order total, currency)

We use a pseudonymous client ID provided by Shopify's pixel runtime to correlate events from the same browser. We do not collect or store names, email addresses, IP addresses, or payment details for storefront visitors.

3. Optional integrations

If you choose to connect external services, Quill stores the tokens needed to use them:

Google Search Console — read-only access to your search analytics for keyword and ranking insights. We pull page-level and query-level metrics; we never publish or modify anything on your behalf.

4. How we use information

To generate articles tailored to your store and brand voice.
To schedule and publish articles on the cadence you choose.
To show you which articles drive traffic and revenue.
To send transactional emails when drafts are ready (when auto-approve is disabled).
To improve Quill's service quality.

5. Subprocessors

We share limited data with the following service providers to operate Quill:

Supabase (database hosting, USA region) — stores your shop record, articles, topics, and analytics events.
OpenRouter / Anthropic / Google (LLM inference for article generation, image generation, and content refinement). Each article generation request sends your product context and the topic to the LLM; responses are stored only in your shop's articles table.
Tavily (Pro tier only — web search for research-grounded citations). Search queries are sent to Tavily; no personally identifiable information is transmitted.
Resend (transactional email delivery for draft-ready notifications). Your shop email address is shared with Resend only when an email is sent.

6. Data retention

We retain your shop and content data for as long as you have Quill installed. When you uninstall the app, we mark your account as inactive and stop processing new data immediately. Within 48 days we permanently delete your data, in line with Shopify's data retention requirements.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, email support@quillship.app from the address associated with your Shopify store. We respond within 30 days.

Shopify also supports GDPR data requests through automated webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact). We process these requests within the timeframes required by GDPR.

8. Security

All data in transit is encrypted via TLS 1.2+. All data at rest in Supabase is encrypted. API tokens (Shopify, Google) are stored encrypted in our database and never exposed to clients. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.

9. Children's privacy

Quill is a B2B service for Shopify merchants. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app and via email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Quill after that date constitutes acceptance.
